Half road covered today!!! Day 15 it is…
So one of my recent interests is World war II.. Though I am curious about WWII ever since I know about WWII… Thanks to BBC for BBC.History.of.World.War.II series.
I must say it is an amazing series with Original audios, Videos and interviews of the People who were part of it or witnessed the most cruel days of History!
This is the Part of History that has taught the world many lessons and will keep on teaching generations until something like this happens again. Hope it never does because that will result in nothing but Apocalypse.
One of the biggest lesson I have learnt while watching this series is Do not follow someone just because their Personality appeals to you!
Though so far I have seen only 1st bunch of episodes “The Nazis a warning from History”..
The biggest question raised in these 6 episodes was “If Italy was able to take down Mussolini, Why couldn’t Germans take down Hitler?” If that had happened the war would have stopped earlier and would have caused less damage..
How Hitler reached to fame in Germany is a different subject and I am not a History student to study it thoroughly to comment about it!
But today I read something That was related to this…
very interesting..
Who should be a World Leader among these 3?
Mr A – He had friendship with bad politicians, consults astrologers, two wives, chain smoker, drinks eight to 10 times a day.
Mr B – He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps till noon, used opium in college & drinks whiskey every evening.
Mr C – He is a decorated war hero,a vegetarian, doesn’t smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.
Be honest and answer this..
.
.
.
.
You would want Mr.C to be be your leader.
Even my answer was same which was made on the basic of the Habits like drinking and smoking…
As even I am very big hater of these things, Mostly smoking!
But..
Mr. A was Franklin Roosevelt!
Mr. B was Winston Churchill!!
&
Mr C Was ADOLF HITLER!!!
Strange but true..
Never judge anyone by his habits !
I am going to be little honest but consider the fact that I am 20 so when I was introduced to WWII I was in school and had little knowledge of Everything…
But I love reading about history… So I read as much as I can…
I always feel the historical writings are many a times biased toward certain party… And sadly in no. of cases some information is intentionally kept hidden or portrayed in a way to show someone as a hero or someone as a villain… So I always search for unbiased or Third Party writings! As Knowing both the sides is important according to me
Like though British people are the winners of WWII and are basically Heroes fr the world, But even they ever busy invading nations one by one for a long time… Indians have experienced it. Rather Hitler looked at British ruling India as an example to be followed!
So as a Third Party and with all the anger for British people for what they did to Our country, a lot of Indians find Hitler a good person Plus as mentioned in above extract his personality also attracts people. Even initially as a person I was attracted to Hitler.. A person who was so patriotic, who hated smoking and drinking does sound attracting then few things about him that he used few ancient and Historic Indian texts to plan his strategies (Though I am searching for some authentic text that supports this.) made him more attractive.Though I never refused to accept what he did was evil.
But I would like to have the qualities mentioned above…
He made few big mistakes in the war.. The way he treated USSR and Italy I don’t think he was to be trusted for Indian independence like many people think..
So yes I once liked Hitler for the personality. Just like it many Germans did back then, It attracts me… But I think He made poor decisions, Had very disorganized and poor Management. No doubt he was cruel, Racist…. And Nobody can support that…
So The first lesson I learnt from my journey into world war so far is Think before you follow someone or Idolize someone…
Recently Lance Armstrong Taught the world same…
A little clarification…
1. I have a lot of German and British readers, I don’t want to hurt your feelings I was talking about History and Both the countries are close to me… Have few great friends there… Sorry if I hurt anyone…
2. To German people, If you find an Indian idolizing Hitler its not for all the cruel things he did but only because We shared same enemy at the time of WW II and Due to few things happening around here people think they need some Patriotic person as a leader. Which he was. They don’t mean they want Someone cruel like him or don’t mean to hurt you. and somehow the swastika connection is also there. (Hinduism has similar symbol as a auspicious one)… So we never want to offend you!
3. I am still looking for writings related to WW II by Third party author Or Unbiased ones… So suggestions are welcome!
